Swans awarded grant for new entrance

8th March, 2019

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Barton Town have been awarded a 100,000 grant to assist in the building of a new entrance at the Easy Buy Stadium.

The Swans have been given the cash by the Premier League, through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF).

As sister organisation of the Football Foundation, the FSIF are the largest funders of non-league football in the country.

The entrance will be moved from Marsh Lane to the other side of the ground, off Pasture Road.

This will make the stadium more accessible to supporters as access is currently down a very narrow street that is hidden away from the main road.

The club will then be easier to locate, enhancing the exposure and support it gets.

The current entrance will be maintained but will be for pedestrian access only.

Barton Town chairman Mark Gregory said: "This is great news - not only for the club, but for the town and community too.

"My thanks go to the Football Stadia Improvement Fund and the Premier League for accepting us for this grant.

"I also want to thank everyone whos worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this happen.

"It will allow us to progress and improve grassroots sport in the local area.

"With a more visible entrance, we feel it will make people take notice of us and realise what a fantastic local club this is."

Peter McCormick OBE, chairman of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, said: "It is great to hear that a grant from the Premier League, through the FSIF, is going to help Barton Town FC to install a more accessible entrance to their stadium.

"Through the FSIF, the Premier League is committed to improving the standard of infrastructure at all levels of the game.

"It is important that investment makes its way to lower league clubs, and Barton Town FCs stadium upgrade is a great example of what this funding can do."
