Staveley Honour Club Legend

16th July, 2012

Staveley Miners Welfare will be naming their new club shop after a man who was a player, local referee, gateman, car park attendant and club helper for over sixty years.

The Ernest East Club Shop will be open on first team match days this season for 45 minutes before kick off where there will be an array of club merchandise and hundreds of non-league programmes on sale.

The Baris NCEL Premier Division side say they had to honour Ernest's years of dedication at Inkersall Road following his sad death earlier this month.

A club spokesperson said: "The memory of Ernest will remain with us in the club with his name sitting proudly on the old and new club shop. Sadly missed but never forgotten - Ernest."

Staveley are also in the process of producing several binders and record books of press articles, team details and match reports from as early as the late 80s and early 90s.

They are also inviting spectators to help with their matchday programme in terms of views, opinions and articles about Staveley Miners Welfare, football in general and the non-league circuit in and around the four counties of Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

Any old photographs or articles will be greatly welcome as they look to bolster their matchday programme with a wider view of football and to involve the spectators from Staveley or any other local club.

Anyone interested in getting involved with the editorial and articles for their matchday programme production is asked get in touch via the email contacts on their website.
