Cox is new Heanor Coach
8th July, 2012
Baris NCEL Premier Division newcomers Heanor Town have unveiled Danny Cox as their new coach.
The Lions suffered a blow when former player and successful coach of last season's East Midlands Counties League title winners, James Whitehead, decided to quit in order to continue playing.
It is understood that he has joined Central Midlands League outfit Sutton Town AFC.
Heanor's management moved quickly to find a replacement in another former player.
Cox, a central defender, had to give up the game following a knee injury, and is welcomed back into the Town Ground fold in his new capacity.
Meanwhile, Heanor will have much to prove when they visit Shepshed Dynamo in the Extra Preliminary Round of this season's FA Cup.
The last time they visited the Dovecote - against the now-defunct Shepshed Charterhouse - was in a Northern Counties East League Premier Division game on 8th October 1982 where they lost 9-0.
Dennis Jenas (4), debutant Kevin Hector (3) and Jeff Lissaman (2) got the goals.
Hector and Lissaman were ex-Football League and Dennis Jenas went on to have a distinguished career at a higher level, and he only played for 64 minutes in this game before being substituted.
