Nathan Keightley's equaliser in the 89th minute at title rivals Bridlington Town on Saturday saw Toolstation NCEL Premier Division leaders Penistone Church claim what could be a vital point on their travels. An early lead for Ian Richards' men, courtesy of a fifth minute opener from Andrew Ring, had turned into a 2-1 advantage for the home side by the midway point of the second half with Nathan Modest equalising just before the interval and Jake Day converting a penalty after the hour.
But, Keightley popped up late on to make it a 2-2 draw and keep the gap between the two sides at eight points as the title race continues to gather momentum.
Second-placed
Yorkshire Amateur moved back to within three points of the summit as they comfortably won 4-0 at
Albion Sports, Harrison Blakey with a double before Callum Charlton and Ashley Flynn claimed the Ammers' first away victory since the end of November.
Hemsworth Miners Welfare and
Worksop Town climbed above Bridlington into third and fourth spot, respectively, following away victories and they are now six points behind Penistone.
Hemsworth went behind to a sixteenth minute penalty converted by Albert Ibrahimi at
Harrogate Railway Athletic but quickly levelled through Richard Collier before a spot-kick from Jason Yates and an Edward Cass strike earned them a 3-1 win.
Worksop, meanwhile, defeated hosts
Maltby Main 2-0 with both goals coming in the opening half, firstly through Craig Mitchell and then Matthew Sykes.
Knaresborough Town lost ground in sixth spot as they surprisingly fell to a 5-0 home loss to
Thackley who are up to sixteenth in their bid to move further away from the relegation zone.
There were two goals each for Adam Muller and Jack Normanton whilst Luke Robinson got the Dennyboys' fifth to claim a massive result for Pat McGuire's side.
A brace from Leon Howarth helped
Handsworth Parramore to a 2-1 home win over
Liversedge and they go above Maltby and
Staveley Miners Welfare into seventh.
Staveley drew 3-3 with visitors
Eccleshill United in a dramatic game that was at 2-2 going into injury time before Matthew Parkin grabbed his second of the afternoon for the home side whilst Charlie Flaherty also netted for the Eagles.
Bottesford Town put a bit of daylight between themselves and the bottom half of the table, now four points clear in tenth, after Jack Bowskin's opener and a Jack McMenemy penalty made it a 2-1 home victory over
Athersley Recreation.
In the fight to avoid relegation, bottom side
Goole AFC picked up their second win of the season at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds as Leigh Hutchinson and Terence Barwick's goals saw them come from behind to beat visitors
Barton Town 2-1.
The Vikings are a point behind Harrogate Railway who drop back into the top two, leapfrogged by
Hall Road Rangers who won 2-0 at home to
Garforth Town, a Conner Harman penalty added to by Reagan Waud in the first 23 minutes.
The top six all won in Division One, leaving
Grimsby Borough and
Campion four points clear at the top of the table with Borough's superior goal difference putting them in pole position.
Joshua Sunter's early deadlock-breaker for Borough was cancelled out by Joshua Dodd for their hosts
Armthorpe Welfare but Jack Debnam and Daniel Trott popped up after the interval to make it a 3-1 victory for the Wilderness Boys.
A Leon Hurles-Brook hat-trick, meanwhile, and a late Marcus Day goal ensured a 4-2 home win for Campion over bottom side
FC Bolsover whose fight to the end was rewarded with strikes from Brett Lucas and Reece Lucas.
Jack Owen's brace secured a 2-0 home victory for third-placed
Nostell Miners Welfare at the expense of
Swallownest and they stay a point ahead of
Winterton Rangers who won 3-0 at
Shirebrook Town with goals from Elliot Broughton, Callum Foster and Luke Anderson.
Hallam's 4-1 defeat of visitors
Rossington Main, Kieran Watson with a double after Thomas Roebuck and Micah Bishop had put the hosts in full command, keeps them in fifth.
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic remain two points behind the Sandygate side in sixth after their 3-1 victory at
Selby Town, Billy Law, Innocent Huly and Robert Oldham's goals dispatching the Robins who drop a place to eighth.
Replacing Selby in seventh are
Dronfield Town who claimed a 2-1 win at home to ninth-placed
Parkgate thanks to Christian Savage and Mark Fereday whilst Swallownest are unmoved in tenth after their defeat.
It was a pointless afternoon for the bottom three sides with
Harworth Colliery and
East Yorkshire Carnegie tasting defeat alongside Bolsover.
Harworth led at
AFC Emley before a Paul Pyke penalty, and goals from Daniel Naidole and Wayne Hughes, turned the game around in the Pewits' favour in a 3-2 win.
Carnegie, meanwhile, fell to a 3-2 loss at
Ollerton Town in what was a big game for both sides as they look over their shoulder at the relegation zone.
Lewis Bingham struck two times for Ollerton, sandwiching Gavin King's goal, after Josh Walker and Myles Lawman had twice given the visitors the lead.
And, in the day's other Division One game, Ryan Poskitt and Adam Walsh got on the scoresheet for
Glasshoughton Welfare who were 2-0 winners at home to
Skegness Town, leaving Welfare in eleventh and Skegness drop below Ollerton into sixteenth.
