An 85th minute goal from Nathan Morritt saw Toolstation NCEL Division One side Swallownest win 1-0 at home to Premier Division visitors Goole AFC in their League Cup Third Round tie on Tuesday. They edged through in what was a tight game at Rotherham Road, joining the other midweek winners
Hemsworth Miners Welfare and
Handsworth Parramore in the late sixteen of this season's competition.
Hemsworth raced into a two-goal lead by the 26th minute at fellow Premier Division side
Barton Town through a Sam Jones penalty and a Bradley Dockerty strike.
Luke Aldrich pulled one back for the Swans on 62, Seon Ripley restored Welfare's two-goal cushion with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining and then both sides netted in injury time, Daniel Chambers for Barton and Sidney Santos for the visitors, to make it a 4-2 victory for Hemsworth.
Handsworth, meanwhile, were 4-3 winners at
Nostell Miners Welfare but their Division One hosts gave them a real scare by going 3-1 up by the hour mark.
Joe Wood's opener for the home side was cancelled out by Oliver Fearon and Daniel Critchlow then converted a penalty to give Nostell a 2-1 half-time lead.
Jack Owen got Nostell's third before the Amber Parras battled back with a Jake Currie double, one from the penalty spot, that brought them back on level terms and Fearon got the winner with eleven minutes remaining.
Elsewhere, there were two Division One games with
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic tightening their grip on sixth spot after a 2-1 home win over
Shirebrook Town.
The visitors took the lead in the second minute through Robbie Savage but Scott Batty restored parity on 27 and, five minutes later, Jack Mawson got what proved to be the winner.
Shirebrook drop a place to twelfth on goal difference and are three positions above
Rossington Main who climbed up to fifteenth with a 1-1 home draw with
Dronfield Town.
Alec Denton scored five minutes into his debut to give Main the lead but Dronfield, who stay ninth in the table, levelled through Daniel Wood early in the second period.
There was also plenty of County Cup action with four ties in the Third Round of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup involving NCEL sides.
Maltby Main celebrated beating Evo-Stik League opposition as they won 2-1 at Stocksbridge Park Steels, Danny Frost and Ross Duggan with a quickfire double towards the end of the first period.
Athersley Recreation and
Staveley Miners Welfare were made to battle by lower league sides with a Kieran Scargill brace helping the Rec to a 4-3 victory over Renishaw Rangers whilst Adam Baskerville and Jahmal Riley scored for Staveley in their 2-1 win against Dodworth Miners Welfare.
And, a Kieran Watson hat-trick helped
Hallam to a 5-0 victory at fellow Division One rivals
Harworth Colliery.
There was late frustration for
Hall Road Rangers who were beaten by a single goal at home to North Ferriby United in the Second Round of the East Riding Senior Cup, their Evo-Stik League visitors scoring the winner in stoppage time.
Meanwhile, there was an all-NCEL Premier Division tie in the Second Round of the West Riding County Cup with goals from Brice Tiani, Ben Laycock and Leon Henry securing
Yorkshire Amateur a 3-0 home victory over
Liversedge.
And, two of our teams met in the First Round of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy as two injury time goals from Craig Bridge and Ben Johnson helped seal a 4-1 home win for
Bottesford Town at the expense of
Skegness Town.
