Parkgate were only fifteen minutes away from causing a big upset in the Emirates FA Cup but an equaliser for Leek Town means there will be a replay next Tuesday. The Steelmen welcomed their Evo-Stik Northern Premier League opponents to Green Lane on Wednesday evening for their First Round Qualifying tie and, after a goalless first half, the hosts twice took the lead in an exciting match.
Martin Brissett's 51st minute opener was cancelled out before Ashley Burberry restored Parkgate's advantage with the Toolstation NCEL Division One side looking to claim an excellent victory over a side two steps above them in the National League System.
However, Leek grabbed their second from the penalty spot in the 75th minute and, with the game finishing 2-2, the two sides will meet at Harrison Park next week to see who will go to Vanarama National League North leaders Chorley at the next stage.
There were four Premier Division matches in midweek with
Barton Town taking to the summit on Tuesday night only to be replaced by
Maltby Main the following evening.
Barton went behind to visitors
Handsworth Parramore, Jonathan Williams breaking the deadlock on 48, before a Thomas Waudby spot kick on the hour mark restored parity and then substitute Gareth Barlow struck twice in the last twelve minutes to claim a 3-1 victory for the Swans.
Maltby go into the weekend in pole position after Ross Duggan struck late on in a single-goal win at
Athersley Recreation to make it thirteen points from Main's opening five matches.
Knaresborough Town climb to sixth after their 4-2 victory over hosts
Garforth Town, Brad Walker and Robert Worrall claiming the win for the visitors after the game reached 60 minutes deadlocked at 2-2.
The visitors had earlier opened the scoring from a Daniel Thirkell penalty that was cancelled out in first half stoppage time by Niah Payne, Shaquille Clarke-Adams then put Garforth ahead and Gregg Anderson brought the scores level once more on 50.
And, first half strikes from Jack Bowskin and Henry Cook secured a win on their travels for
Bottesford Town, beating
Liversedge 2-1 at the Clayborn Ground with Joe Walton grabbing a late consolation for the home side.
