Rangers Bring Jones on Board
7th July, 2009
Winterton Rangers have signed up former Notts County and Scunthorpe United striker Gary Jones for the new campaign.
Manager Richard Sennett says he is delighted to bring the 39-year-old, who spent five years at NCEL rivals Armthorpe Welfare, to the club.
He added: "Gary has agreed to a coaching role as well as playing for us this season and his experience will be invaluable.
"He's a six foot four striker so is good in the air, but he has the ability to hold up possession to bring others into pla, and can bag you his fair share of goals.
"The squad is building nicely and Gary will support the younger players."
Jones made over 400 appearances in the Football League and was the golden boot winner at Notts County under Sam Allardyce.
He then moved into non-league with Nuneaton Borough and Hucknall Town.
