Scotland Ace Signs For Taddy
31st March, 2010
Tadcaster Albion's KoolSport NCEL Division One title hopes have been given a boost by the signing of former Scotland international, Gary McAllister.
Taddy boss Paul Marshall played alongside the former Leeds United, Liverpool and Coventry midfielder in the national Umbro over-45's Veteran's Cup at the weekend.
After the match, he jokingly asked the Scot if he was interested in turning out for the Brewers and got a surprise when he said yes.
Marshall told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "I was just taking the mickey at first, but I told him all about Tadcaster and he seemed really keen.
"I was then getting the drinks in at the bar and he came up and asked for a pint of John Smith's and a Lucozade Sport. I got them in and handed him the forms and he signed them.
"I then told everyone in the pub 'That's my claim to fame. I've just signed Gary Mac for a pint of John Smith's and a bottle of Lucozade!'
"I am going to get him involved before the end of the season. I have told him we have six games left and if he is available he will be part of the squad.
"Our last three games are at home to Brighouse, Leeds Carnegie and Yorkshire Amateur and he will be involved.
"It will be interesting and hopefully it will put a few on the gate."
