Barton Free To Sign Players
9th March, 2010
Barton Town Old Boys have been told they can now re-register all the players they signed last month from Westella & Willerby AFC.
The KoolSport NCEL Division One club were informed of the news by Lincolnshire FA following instructions from the Disciplinary Manager at the Football Association, Mark Ives.
Barton Town had originally signed eight players from the Central Midlands outfit but were found guilty of breaching FA Rules 2(a)(ii) and 2(a)(v)B - approaching more than one player in the 28 day time limit.
The NCEL registrations of these players were suspended on Monday 8th February - but they are now free to join the Euronics Ground outfit.
A Barton Town Old Boys spokesman said: "This is great news for the club, but more particularly for the players involved who, despite finding themselves in limbo for the past four weeks, have never failed to show their allegiance to the club.
"We would like to thank everybody involved in resolving this issue. It is now time to move on."
The players will be available for selection this Saturday when Barton are at home to Worsborough Bridge Athletic.
Meanwhile, at their meeting on Thursday night, the KoolSport NCEL Management Board will deal with the unfulfilled fixture, Barton Town's match at home to Pontefract Collieries, that was due to be played the day after the registrations were suspended.
