Waddington Takes Glasshoughton Helm
16th September, 2009
Phil Riding has stood down as manager of KoolSport NCEL Division One side, Glasshoughton Welfare.
He is to stay with the club primarily as Academy Team manager, with the committee also looking at a possible coaching/administrative role for him.
The new manager of the First Team with immediate effect is Stuart Waddington who has served his combined playing and coaching time with Harrogate Railway, Liversedge, Thackley, Brighouse Town, Leeds United Academy and is the holder of different stages of FA Coaching Badges.
A club statement reads: "Although Phil readily acknowledges that he has not had the best of records as First Team Manager, everyone at the club would like to thank him for his dedication and efforts during his twelve months or so in charge.
"Unfortunately, Welfare have no fixture this Saturday so the new man at the helm has arranged a full scale practice game involving the full club squad in preparation for his first competitive game in charge at Brighouse Town the following weekend."
And, Waddington will be determined to end a run of 52 league matches without a win for Glasshoughton that stretches back to February 2008.
