NCEL 2009/10 Match Review #61
1st April, 2010
A torrential downpour on Tuesday meant more postponement chaos for the KoolSport NCEL as all-but-one of the scheduled matches for that evening fell victim to the bad weather.
Only the Third Round League Cup clash between the top two League sides, Armthorpe Welfare and Bridlington Town, survived with the home side coming from behind to win 4-1.
Chris Adams had put Bridlington ahead after just two minutes but Liam Hardy struck twice to have the hosts in front by the quarter-hour mark.
Bruno Holden made it three on 21 minutes and that's how it stayed until late on when Hardy completed his hat-trick.
Armthorpe now go to Tadcaster Albion in the last eight.
With better weather on Wednesday, all four matches that were scheduled managed to get started but one had to be abandoned just after half-time.
Bottom Premier Division side Brodsworth Welfare were 4-0 down at home to Long Eaton United when a fire in the floodlights' control unit raised health and safety fears and the game was called off.
Winterton Rangers move up to sixth in the top flight with a 2-1 win over visitors Dinnington Town, Andy Walken with the 76th minute winner after Mat Arnault had earlier cancelled out an opener from Dean Wilburn for the hosts.
Maltby Main and Pickering Town played out a goalless draw at Muglet Lane.
And, in the one game in Division One, AFC Emley's promotion hopes took another blow as they went down 1-0 at home to Yorkshire Amateur, Kyle Collins with the only goal of the game on 33 minutes.
