Powell Honoured For Fifty Years Service

The Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA have presented Parkgate committee member, Fred Powell from Sunnyside in Rotherham, with a long service award.
Fred has completed 54 years service in the organizing and supporting grass roots football in the Rotherham area.
And, Maurice Matthews, Chairman of Sheffield & Hallamshire CFA, presented awards on behalf of the County FA and the FA to Fred at the English Institute of Sport.
Fred was a player for 20 years at Sunnyside. He helped run his local team Sunnyside W.M.C. a Committee Member for five tears, then Club Secretary for fifteen years competing in the Premier Division of the Rotherham Association Football League.
Fred was on the Management Committee of the Rotherham Association Football League for ten years serving on the Discipline and Challenge Cup Committees.
In 1993 he joined the Rotherham & District Football Association, since when he has become Chairman of the Referees Committee and a member of the Challenge Cups Committee whilst, in 2002, he was elected a Vice President.
Fred is also a member of the Windsor Food Service County Senior League Management Committee.
He was the Secretary of the County Senior League Team at Parkgate FC for a number of years.
He still serves on the Committee of Parkgate FC and can be seen selling the raffle on match days.
Fred also serves on the Rotherham & District Charity Cup Committee and is busy organizing and raising much needed money for local charities. He was elected Chairman of the Charity Cup this year.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the Rotherham and District Football Association presented a rose bowl to Fred for achieving fifty years service in grassroots football.
