Shiners Hunt For New Goalkeeper
8th November, 2007
South Normanton Athletic are hunting for a new goalkeeper after Ross Whalin injured his shoulder in the midweek 1-1 draw with Thackley.
The influential shot-stopper suffered the injury after colliding with a defender at a corner and is expected to be out of action for at least the next month.
Joint boss Mark Harvey told Chad: "Losing Ross is a massive blow to us, he has been brilliant for us this season and is one of the best goalkeepers in the division."
The Shiners may now be forced to play Harvey, a former goalkeeper, in goal during Saturday's League Cup second round clash against Yorkshire Amatuer.
Said Harvey: "Unless we can get a new keeper I will have to go in goal.
"I have played at this level before but not for many years but I should be OK.
"I'd sooner rather not be playing though because Ross is such an important player to us."
