McJannet Raids His Old Club
18th July, 2007
Glapwell manager Les McJannet has boosted his squad in the club's bid to bring UniBond football to Hall Corner next year.
The former Sutton Town boss has returned to his former club to bring striker Craig Mitchell and highly-rated defender Matt Varley - the latter has still to sign, but McJannet told the Mansfield Chad that he was expected to do so.
On top of those, another former Snipes player Matthew Fox has joined his old boss after a year in the Conference North with Hucknall Town.
Mitchell also has experience of higher level football, having played a few first team games for Mansfield.
He has also figured in the Conference North with both Leigh RMI and Glapwell.
McJannet has also landed two quality players from Ilkeston Town, in midfielder Paul Smith and winger Chris Adams.
"We are optimistic of beating last season when we gained our highest ever position in the Northern Counties East League," said McJannet.
"Training is going well and we have retained virtually all of last season's squad as well as adding five or six quality players."
