Main Close To Unveiling New Boss
23rd May, 2008
The Dinnington Guardian is reporting that Maltby Main should have a new manager in place by the end of today.
They say that the club were interviewing candidates yesterday who had made it onto the shortlist of four, and an announcement is expected in the next few hours.
The shortlisted candidates are all believed to have experience at Northern Counties East League level at least, with one former Worksop Town assistant rumoured to be in the frame.
Club secretary John Mills believes the new man in charge will need to be a forward thinking manager, as the club looks to gain FA Charter Standard.
He told the Guardian: "What we're looking to do at the moment is to try and get the Charter Standard, and the new manager will need to have certain qualifications and UEFA badges."
Mills says the manager, and the club, should be focusing on the future, rather than concentrating so much on the present.
"We're looking to take a positive step forward, not just looking at the season ahead, or trying to win the league.
"Previous managers and indeed the club have never looked past one season and now we want to look forward and build for the future."
The recently departed first team manager Robbie Barron will remain with the club in his role as development officer to keep continuity at Muglet Lane.
