Pre-Season Boost For Rangers
30th July, 2007
Paul Palmer scored his first goal for Hall Road Rangers with a thundering 56th-minute penalty to earn a 1-1 draw against Bridlington Town.
It was the result Rangers deserved against their higher division opposition and another pleasing performance.
For manager Steve Richards it was a change to his system and it worked for him.
"We changed it to 4-4-2 and the system worked better for us than playing with the lone striker," he said.
"It was another pleasing performance in what was a very competitive game from both sides. I still feel there are one or two areas in which we need to improve, but our fitness is now getting somewhere near.
"We created a lot more chances and should maybe have had a few more goals but we didn't.
"I still think some of our defending was na?ve at times but it's understandable at this time in the season."
