25th February, 2008
Winterton Rangers' lead at the top of the Premier Division grew to thirteen points as they trounced Eccleshill United 7-1 at West Street.
Rob Northen led the way with four goals whilst Andy Holt picked up a brace and David Watson also got on the scoresheet to keep Peter Daniel's side as overwhelming favourites to pick up the title.
Luke Richardson grabbed the consolation for Eccleshill.
A last-minute equaliser saw second-placed Glapwell pick up a point at the side just below them, Liversedge.
Earlier, Ian Brown had cancelled out a seventh-minute strike from Joe Walsh for the hosts before Sedge regained the lead through Darryll Leach.
Colin Cockerill then grabbed Glapwell's vital second in a 2-2 draw with seconds remaining.
Pickering Town's UniBond ambitions took a knock as they were beaten 3-0 at Arnold Town to remain six points behind Liversedge in fourth.
The game was over in the first half-hour with two goals from Craig Mitchell and the third from Ashley Harrison as the Eagles climbed to eighth in their ever-improving season.
Selby Town moved up to fifth with a 4-1 victory at Shirebrook Town replacing Hallam who were beaten by goals from Nicky Matthews and Danny Forrest in a 2-0 defeat at Thackley.
That was a vital victory for Thackley in the battle to avoid relegation as the three sides below them failed to win so they moved five points clear.
Two of the bottom three met as Glasshoughton Welfare and South Normanton Athletic shared a 2-2 draw.
Glasshoughton took the lead through Lewis Wallace in the opening minute before a Lee Sutton penalty in first-half injury time levelled matters and Dean Whiley then put the visitors ahead.
But, Welfare grabbed a point that kept them three adrift at the bottom with an 80th-minute equaliser through Jonathan Forsuthe.
Athletic moved up into eighteenth, dumping Lincoln Moorlands Railway, who lost 1-0 at home to Parkgate thanks to a late strike from Steve Ward, into the bottom two.
Brodsworth Welfare continued their remarkable up-turn in form with a 1-0 home win over Mickleover Sports.
And, Long Eaton United and Nostell Miners Welfare were 2-0 winners on their own patch.
Long Eaton beat Armthorpe Welfare with goals from Nathan Parker and Michael Buckley whilst Neil Beardsmore and Michael Long found the net for Nostell against Maltby Main.
In Division One, Dinnington Town moved another massive step closer to the title as they won the battle of the top two.
They won 3-2 at Gedling Town to extend their lead to fifteen points after Andrew Jones had put the hosts ahead.
A Grant Allott brace on either side of half-time followed by Ant Lynam's 33rd of the season put Dinnington well on the way before a late scare with a second for Jones.
Rainworth Miners Welfare continued their chase for second spot as the promotion race hots up with a 2-1 win at rivals Bottesford Town to leapfrog over their hosts into third.
Adam Lillie and Craig Wilson were the scorers for the Wrens whilst James Leech netted for Bottesford.
Hall Road Rangers kept up their Premier Division aspirations with a 1-0 win at Yorkshire Amateur to keep them in fifth.
And, a James Elliott brace moved Leeds Met Carnegie up into sixth as they picked up a 2-0 victory at home to Borrowash Victoria.
Staveley Miners Welfare and Teversal lost a little ground as both dropped points at home.
Despite a Ryan Damms penalty, Staveley were beaten 2-1 by Worsbrough Bridge Athletic who came from behind to win with goals from Luke Forgione and Richard Elson in the last half-hour.
And, Teversal were held to a 1-1 draw by bottom side Pontefract Collieries with Jamie Hudson's late equaliser for the hosts sharing the spoils.
Rossington Main's recent run of form was ended by a 3-1 defeat at home to AFC Emley after Lee Holmes had given them a second minute lead.
And, the highest scoring game of the day in Division One came at Ings Lane where Tadcaster Albion came from 3-0 down at half-time to draw 3-3 with Barton Town.
Craig Burdick, Gareth Barlow and Gary Dickinson had put the visitors seemingly well on the way to victory.
But, Tadcaster had other ideas with Rob Ellis and Richard Matthews clawing them back to within touching distance before an own goal by Roy Raspin gave them a point.
