Midweek Match Review
21st December, 2007
Glapwell remain the sole NCEL survivors in the Derbyshire Senior Cup after an excellent 2-1 win over UniBond side Matlock Town.
Goals in each half from David Rimington and Aaron Brady secured their passage to the Fourth Round at Hall Corner, Jamie Donnelly-Jackson converted for the Gladiators.
However, Borrowash Victoria and Long Eaton United saw their participation in the tournament ended by UniBond League opposition.
The Vics were beaten 3-0 at home to Ilkeston Town with second-half goals from Adam Lee, Shane Newton and Gareth Holmes.
And, an early David Blenkinsopp strike saw Long Eaton United go down by a single goal at Gresley Rovers.
Meanwhile, a number of NCEL sides took advantage of a free midweek by arranging friendlies.
Glasshoughton Welfare were beaten 6-1 at home to Goole AFC whilst Lincoln Moorlands Railway picked up a morale-boosting 2-1 victory over visitors Boston United.
And, Teversal got the bragging rights from an all-NCEL encounter winning 3-1 against Shirebrook Town at Carnarvon Street.
Richard Walker opened the scoring on four minutes before Jack Townroe doubled Tevies' advantage by the interval.
Andy Woodcock made it three on 50 before a Danny Tighe own goal in the closing minutes gave Shirebrook a late consolation.
