Taylor takes charge at Cobras

7th May, 2018

Clipstone have unveiled former AFC Mansfield boss and assistant manager Micky Taylor as the new man to take charge of the Cobras as they prepare for life in Step 6 of the National League System.

He succeeds Alan Widdowson who stepped down after Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Bottesford Town, the final game of a campaign that saw the Lido Ground side relegated from the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.

Vice chairman Andy Sumner said in a statement on the club's website: "Micky brings vital experience into the club and is well known for his success as a local manager.

"Micky has previously been the manager of AFC Mansfield when it originally formed and won four trophies in two years including promotion into the NCEL. In those two seasons, the team lost just four times in the league, twice each year.

"He also returned to the club as assistant manager where he was highly regarded and he was pivotal in the club's promotion run in 2015/16 and their first time at step 5 in 2017.

"Micky is also bringing in an excellent local management team. Danny Tighe and Matt Millns will both be joining as assistant managers.

"Both Danny and Matt have played for the club over the years and are well known to the club and supporters.

"Last season has been a challenge for the club but we have continued to learn and build the infrastructure to take us into the new season even stronger.

"Bringing in the experience of Micky, and also that of his management team, will hopefully give us that platform for a more successful year in Step 6."
