Shelton becomes permanent boss
1st November, 2017
Parkgate have announced that Ross Shelton, who has been in temporary charge at the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side since the middle of October, has become its manager on a permanent basis.
He took over when it was announced that then-boss Graham Nicholas was taking leave of absence for a few weeks before Nicholas stood down completely last Monday.
Twenty-seven-year-old Shelton began his playing career at sixteen with Sheffield Wednesday and, after a period at Scunthorpe United, started his NCEL football at Parkgate.
He then had spells at Garforth Town and Ossett Town before he returned to Roundwood last year.
Parkgate chairman Albert Dudill told the club's website: "We are delighted to confirm Ross as our new manager and are fully behind his efforts to get the team moving up the NCEL Premier Division table.
"I'd like to thank everyone who expressed an interest in the manager's job at Green Lane but, in reality, Ross was always our first choice."
Shelton's first game in full charge will be at home to Rainworth Miners Welfare on Saturday.
