New Beginning at Ammas
9th June, 2012
Ex-Ammas player, Junior and Academy coach Wayne Noteman has taken the role of manager of the senior side at Yorkshire Amateur and is looking forward to pre-season.
Wayne's background is steeped in football and he started out in one of the club's junior sides.
Graduating from the juniors to the seniors, he then went on to play for Harrogate Railway before turning pro and joining Doncaster Rovers.
He's played for some of the region's most successful clubs and has played in the FA Cup 3rd Round, semi final of the FA Trophy and the FA Vase Final at Wembley.
After Doncaster, he played for clubs such as Frickley, Farsley, Guiseley, Harrogate Town, Bishop Auckland and Goole but he has remained an Ammas man.
Having been a coach for fifteen years and helped oversee one of the junior section's most successful teams from U10s upwards with manager Kingsley Needham, they have successfully now bedded the youngsters into the senior section academy and Wayne is up for the next big challenge.
He will be assisted by Peter Brennan who has a great knowledge of the Leeds non league circuit and Dennis Metcalfe Jnr who has coached at Bradford City and Leeds United for many years before having a short spell in management with Harrogate Railway.
Wayne says: "The club is going through a period of transition and changes have already been made.
"Every team starts off the beginning of their season in an optimistic fashion, but this season is probably one of the most crucial in the club's history.
"With limited resources, it will be important that we continue to develop our young players and integrate them with existing and experienced new players to the club.
"So we need to get together, get our preparation right and start well.
"I've already had lots of calls from interested players wanting to get involved so I'm sure we'll be able to build a side that will be competitive."
Any players wishing to get involved can contact Wayne on 07973 397249 and anyone wishing to sponsor a player or advertise their business at the ground should contact Yorkshire Amateur on 07402 900967.
