Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2017/18 #45

18th January, 2018

AFC Mansfield, Campion and Ollerton Town are the first teams into the Fourth Round of this season's Toolstation NCEL League Cup after victories in midweek.

In Tuesday's only game to survive the bad weather, league leaders Mansfield overcame Premier Division rivals Barton Town 2-0 at the Forest Town Stadium.

Craig Mitchell's first half injury time strike was added to by a Bradley McDonald goal with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining as the Bulls defeated the Swans.

Meanwhile, two matches went ahead on Wednesday with both causing upsets as Division One sides knocked out Premier Division opposition.

Campion breezed through with a 3-0 victory at Bottesford Town, Jason Carney giving them a 37th minute lead before two quick goals at the start of the second period from Piteu Crouz and Devonte Morton secured their progression.

And, Ollerton defeated fellow North Nottinghamshire side Clipstone 4-3 after extra time at Walesby Lane.

Charlie Hardwick netted twice as the visitors led 2-1 at the interval, Gav King with a reply in between, before the home side went 3-2 up with eight minutes of normal time remaining, thanks to Mark Carter and a second from King.

Alfie Gaughan forced a further half-hour as he made it 3-3 in stoppage time and, as it looked as though the tie would be settled by penalties, Carter grabbed another in the dying seconds of extra time to send the home side through.
