Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2017/18 #30

16th November, 2017

Two goals from Michael Dunn helped Pontefract Collieries move to within a point of the summit in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division in midweek.

His goals came in a 3-1 victory at Bridlington Town after Luke Jeffs' 47th minute opener whilst the visitors grabbed a late consolation through Joel Sutton and the Colls climb to second whilst Bridlington stay in ninth spot.

It was one of four Premier Division matches that took place with the biggest crowd at the King of Soho Stadium where 455 people watched Worksop Town draw 1-1 with visitors AFC Mansfield.

The Bulls took the lead just past the hour mark through Craig Mitchell but the away side's lead lasted only three minutes as Steven Woolley levelled to make it a point apiece with AFC Mansfield up to fourth and Worksop remain eighth.

Liversedge stormed four places up the table to thirteenth as they won 2-1 at Hall Road Rangers, Joseph Walton and Regan Fish with their goals after Joshua Batty had given the hosts a second minute lead.

Basement side Clipstone also broke the deadlock early at Barton Town through Matthew Milns but ultimately went down 4-1 as Lewis Clarkson and William Waudby put the home side ahead in a breathless opening eight minutes.

Then, a second half penalty from Thomas Waudby and a Corey Mortimer strike gave the Swans the win that moves them out of the bottom three.

In Division One, Declan Brewin netted twice as Shirebrook Town defeated Campion 3-0 to leapfrog over their opponents into fifth place after Joe Cheeseman had opened the scoring on nine minutes.

Chris Wood' s hat-tricked helped Hallam beat hosts AFC Emley 4-0 with Mitchell Dunne also getting on the scoresheet for the Sandygate side who are up to eighth.

Glasshoughton Welfare climb to twelfth as Andrew Horbury and Adam Walsh got on the scoresheet before Mitchell Wilshire struck twice in a minute in a 4-1 home victory over East Yorkshire Carnegie.

And, there were two matches in the Second Round of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup with Lee Garside, Adam White and Kyle Wordsworth finding the net in Athersley Recreation's 3-0 win at former NCEL side Dinnington Town who are now in the Central Midlands League.

Meanwhile, Aaron Moxam scored for Handsworth Parramore but they were beaten 3-1 at another ex-NCEL team Shaw Lane who are higher up the pyramid in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division.
