Baris NCEL Review - Season 2011/12 #46

22nd March, 2012

A hat-trick from Craig Hogg helped Bridlington Town book their place in the Final of the East Riding Senior Cup (Sponsored by Truckexport) in midweek.

They were 4-2 winners over Westella & Willerby and will now face either Bridlington Sports Club or Hall Road Rangers Reserves in the showpiece occasion at Hull City's KC Stadium on Wednesday 9th May.

Hogg scored the first two goals of the evening before Gareth Slater brought the Windsor Foodservice Central Midlands League side back into it as the opening period came to an end.

Josh Greening then made it 3-1 on the hour before Hogg notched up his 36th goal of the season with twenty minutes remaining.

Jonathan Slater slotted home a late penalty for their opponents but it was just a consolation.

Scarborough Athletic tightened their grip on fifth place in the Baris NCEL Premier Division with a 2-0 home win over Brighouse Town, James Ghaichem and Ryan Blott with their goals in the final 25 minutes of the match.

Ashley Lattimore and Richard Medcalf struck after Blaine Hancock had given visitors Long Eaton United the lead to earn Barton Town Old Boys all three points in a 2-1 victory.

And, Arnold Town came from behind twice to share the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Nostell Miners Welfare, Luke Smithson getting their second equaliser twelve minutes from time.

In Division One, the two sides closest to leaders Handsworth kept up their title challenges with vital home wins.

Second placed Albion Sports beat visitors Rossington Main 3-1 but needed goals in the last few moments from Declan Normschild and Aron Heywood to ensure the points.

Worksop Parramore were also made to sweat at home to Askern Villa despite going three goals up by the 49th minute, courtesy of a Lee Holmes double that sandwiched a Tom Nolan strike.

Villa came back into the game through Matthew Holmes on 69 minutes and Jamie Sherlock then made it a one-goal gap deep into stoppage time but the hosts held on for a 3-2 victory.

Louth Town, meanwhile, were 1-0 winners at Dinnington Town, Jamie Coulson with the early goal that moves them up into thirteenth.

And, Parkgate will go to Winterton Rangers in the Fourth Round of the League Cup after their dramatic 6-4 win at home to Hall Road Rangers.

Ashley Worsfold opened the scoring on six minutes whilst Nathan Swindells struck twice and Matthew Needham also found the net to give them a 4-1 advantage by half-time.

Worsfold made it 5-1 soon after the interval but Rangers struck back within ten minutes as Steve Gawthorpe converted a penalty, Paul Wilson got his second of the evening and then David Ricardo also netted to pull it back to 5-4.

But, Swindells completed his hat-trick soon after the hour mark to ensure Parkgate's progression.
