More observers needed for NCEL

6th January, 2018

The Toolstation NCEL is looking to expand its pool of observers to help in the development of the competition's match officials.

You may know them as assessors but they have been recently re-named as observers by the FA and the emphasis is now to concentrate upon the development of aspiring referees by support, advice and encouragement.

Whatever they are called, they remain a vital cog in helping referees to serve the competition, and to take subsequent promotion opportunities where they can.

We are rightly proud of our record in producing referees who can, and do, reach the very top with many former NCEL match officials currently serving in the Premier League and the EFL.

The league is continually looking to recruit and train new observers to help train and develop our referees operating at Supply Level (Division One).

To start the New Year, therefore, we are inviting expressions of interest from those who, having officiated at Level 3 or above, now wish to explore the opportunities to become an observer with this competition.

Indeed, we would also be interested in talking to anyone who already has some experience, at the right level, in observing. Many of our Supply observers eventually go onwards to also operate at Contributory Level.

Full training will be given, coupled with on-going support and we pay a fixed fee in recognition of your efforts/travel.

So how do you go about it? Well, as a first step, you can contact our Observer Appointment Secretary Brian Fairclough on (07723) 519935 or at rbfairclough@gmail.com to discuss the possibilities.

Come and join a good team! Come and give something back!
