Baris NCEL President Howard Webb has been given an honorary degree at Sheffield Hallam University for his services to sport. He received the honour at a ceremony at Sheffield City Hall yesterday, just months after he was handed an MBE for services to football.
It's after Mr Webb became the first man to referee both the World Cup and Champions League Finals in the same year in 2010.
He told the packed audience of graduates: "I was truly thrilled when I learned of the honour that Sheffield Hallam University were to bestow upon me and I, together with my family, am delighted to be part of this magnificent occasion.
"But, I've been honoured with this degree simply for doing something I love. Before me are people who have worked incredibly hard and devoted a huge amount of time in order to achieve their particular goals and to each and every one of you, I say, 'Congratulations.'"
