Bucks Make It A 'Double'

27th April, 2006

Buxton have become only the second side in NCEL history to successfully defend their Presidents Cup title.

They beat hosts Selby 1-0 in this evening's second leg to win 2-0 on aggregate.

It means a League and Cup double for Buxton who claimed the Premier Division title at the weekend.

Before this season, North Ferriby United had been the only side to win the Presidents Cup two seasons running, in 1999 and 2000, in the competition's sixteen-year history.

Congratulations to Buxton who have taken the Premier Division title today with a 4-0 win at Thackley.

A Mark Reed brace and one each for Stewart Copnell and Jordan Hall means they have clinched their first championship in 33 years.

They are nine points clear of Liversedge who have only two games left to play.

Bucks Cup Tie Goes Ahead

2nd September, 2005

THE FA have thrown out the charge that Buxton fielded an ineligible player in their FA Cup Preliminary Round tie on Saturday.

Their opponents Newcastle Town had lodged a protest saying that goalkeeper Ayden Duffy was not properly registered for the game that was drawn 1-1.

An FA hearing made their verdict at Soho Square this morning.

The replay will now take place at the Silverlands on Tuesday night, ko 7.45pm, meaning their Premier Division visit to Glapwell scheduled for that night will now be re-arranged.

Cup Tie Suspended Pending FA Hearing

30th August, 2005

Buxton's FA Cup Preliminary Round Replay, due to be played on Wednesday night, has been called off following a protest by their opponents, Newcastle Town.

It relates to the eligibility of a Buxton player, Ayden Duffy, who played as goalkeeper in the first game on Saturday 27th August 2005.

The grounds of the protest are that he did not have the correct permission from his registered club Lincoln City FC to play as a work experience player.

It will now be the subject of a meeting of an FA Cup Protest Sub-Committee to be held on Friday 2nd September 2005.
