Miners appoint new chairman

20th October, 2021

Maltby Main have appointed David Watts as the club's chairman with immediate effect following the resignation of Wilf Race last month.

The announcement comes following a meeting on Monday night of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division club's committee and volunteers.

CEO Darrell Johnson said: "David was vice chairman previously and produces the club’s excellent social media material also.

"David has committed to the time and effort this role demands and is a very popular member of the Main backroom team.

"The club is in great shape sitting in sixth position following a number of recent promotion challenging seasons and the first team management have been informed of David’s appointment.

"The opportunity was also taken to make a few other ‘tweaks’ to the club's off-the-field structure as 'the little club with the big heart' moves into a new era.

"I would like to wish David the very best of luck in his new position and I know he will get the support of everyone involved at the club going forward."
