Scarborough Athletic say their chairman is "on the mend" after a car crash following last weekend's game at Farsley AFC.

Richard Adamson remains in Leeds General Infirmary but the signs are very encouraging.

A statement from the club said: "Richard has moved between Intensive Care, High Dependancy and the Neurology wards, as the hospital continued tests.

"He is now speaking lucidly and engaging in conversation with family members.

"Although Richard is not yet well enough to return home, it is hoped his improvement will continue, and he will soon be back at Queensgate on a matchday.

"The club wishes to thank all all who have sent best wishes for Richard which will be passed on upon his return home."
