New chairman at Armthorpe
9th August, 2020
Armthorpe Welfare have a new chairman in place following Lee Carmody's decision to step down recently after three-and-a-half years in the role.
The Toolstation NCEL Division One club has acted swiftly to fill the position by appointing Steve Baskerville as the new man at its helm.
Steve has a very good knowledge of non-league football having successfully played, coached and managed at various clubs for thirty years.
Following his appointment, Steve said: "I was sad to see Lee resign as chairman as he has done a cracking job while at the club.
"I thought long and hard after being approached to take over but I have picked up such a good vibe and community feel about the club since watching my sons play both home and away that it made my decision for me."
He added: "After discussions with the committee, it was clear that we all want to move the club forward, not only on the footballing side but also into the community as well.
"It is the community that we want to involve more to build the club up as a whole in the next few years."
A club statement said: "Steve, the club's management committee, the playing staff and all at the club wish to thank Lee Carmody for the tremendous work he has put into the club during his time at the helm.
"We are sure it won't be the last we see of him at the Marra Falcons Stadium."
