Ill Health Forces Rona to Step Down
25th May, 2011
The chairperson of KoolSport NCEL Division One side Grimsby Borough has had to step down due to ill health.
Rona Simons has said in a statement to the club: "I regret to inform you that, due to a serious health problem, I have to tender my resignation as chair, minute secretary and photographer of Grimsby Borough Football Club.
"Naturally, I wish Grimsby Borough every success and trust that, with your guidance and endeavour, it becomes the best club in the area both on and off the field."
In reply, the club said: "Grimsby Borough are totally shocked by this decision and, first and foremost, wish Rona a speedy recovery.
"The club also offers its full support to her and we hope to see her back amongst her beloved Blue Army very soon."
In the meantime, Boro have appointed the club's physio Kenny Vincent as temporary chair until their AGM on Monday 6th June.
He said he was honoured to be offered the role and will do his best to fill a very large pair of shoes and promised he would endeavour to take the club to the next level.
Vice-chair Peter Briggs was offered the vacant post but had to turn it down as he will soon be taking part in the Round the World Clipper Yacht Race.
