New Manager at the Colliery
17th October, 2010
Rossington Main went into their KoolSport NCEL Division One game at home to Pontefract Collieries yesterday under the leadership of Mel Culshaw.
This was due to the former manager, Ian Wilson, deciding to take a step back and concentrate more on the club as a whole rather than just the first team.
A statement to the club's website said: "I have stepped down as first team manager following the 1-1 draw at AFC Emley in midweek.
"It was always my intention to try and groom a younger person to take over from the moment Rob Burton and myself took charge almost three years ago.
"Finally the club has someone from within who is willing to take on that responsibility and I wish Mel every success in the future.
"I am still remaining actively involved with the club, assisting all the teams at training and on matchdays along with the continued responsibility of looking after the playing surface.
"I would like to thank everyone at the club for their support and backing during my term as first team manager - Chairman Carl Stokes and the entire committee, my assistant Steve Lodge and caretaker assistant Rob Hastie, the regular supporters and, of course, the players.
"I would like to think that the club has progressed both on and off the field in recent years and this is due to the dedication and commitment of everyone."
All at the club have wished Ian all the best in his new role and thank him for all his hard work and commitment over the years and, welcoming the new boss into the role, they hope that he can take the team to bigger and better things.
