Moors Pick Ranshaw

3rd May, 2006

NCEL Division One side Lincoln Moorlands have confirmed that their new Manager is to be ex-Lincoln United striker Rick Ranshaw.

He has been offered the role of Player-Manager for next season having recently severed his ties with United after being offered the post.

Ranshaw succeeds John Priestley who left the club at the end of last month.

Club Secretary Graham Peck said: "Whilst this is Rick's first managerial post, we have every confidence that he will bring to the job the same sort of 110% commitment that he shows on the field by leading by example and becoming an inspirational figure to the younger players.

"He has already an idea on what needs to be done on the playing side and it looks as if there are some exciting times to come as things take shape.

"Rick did a superb job as a player here earlier in the season scoring 10 goals in 16 appearances and were really gutted when he opted to United.

"But, that is all in the past past and we all look forward to working with him."

Ranshaw himself was equally enthusiastic about his appointment: "I want to thank all those at Moorlands in giving me my first senior Managerial role which I look forward to immensely.

"I have a bit of an advantage having got to know most of the lads and the Club set up during my time last season and that persuaded me to take up the offer.

"There is so much optimism around the place and masses of potential.

"I will look forward to talking to people and learning a few different aspects of what is required and I am confident all the support I need will be there.

"It's a great Club to start at and I hope I will achieve something with the legacy John has left that is basically in good shape."
