Grimsby Borough were held to a 3-3 draw at home to Silsden AFC on Saturday but remain five points clear at the top of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division.The Wilderness Boys led three times in the game with Lewis Collins, Jack Debnam and Thomas Hipwell separately putting the hosts ahead but on each occasion they were thwarted by Jack Normanton whose hat-trick secured a point for the thirteen-placed visitors.
Borough's closes rivals
Eccleshill United also picked up one point in a home match as Ellis Wade rescued them a 1-1 draw late on at home to
Barton Town who had taken the lead in the 36th minute through Curtis Bateson.
Garforth Town and
Sherwood Colliery both won to narrow the gap with the top two in the promotion chase with Garforth staying third after a 3-1 home win on Friday night.
Charlie Marshall's opener for the Miners was cancelled out in first half stoppage time by
Hemsworth Miners Welfare's Nash Connolly and that is how it stayed until the final ten minutes when Jamie Barkway and Joseph Colley netted for the home side.
The defeat keeps Hemsworth in the relegation zone, two points away from safety.
Sherwood, meanwhile, were 1-0 victors at
Emley AFC, William Norcross with the decisive goal midway through the opening period, and they close the gap to the promotion places to eight points.
There were wins for
Penistone Church and
Staveley Miners Welfare who move up to fifth and sixth, respectively, Bradley Kemp with a couple for Penistone in their 3-1 win at
Thackley whilst Staveley were 5-1 home victors over
Knaresborough Town with Declan Howe getting a brace for the Trojans.
Handsworth drop to seventh after a 4-1 home loss to
AFC Mansfield, Klarke Greenham with a couple on his debut for the Bulls following his move from neighbours Sherwood Colliery, and the visitors climb to fourteenth in the table.
Bottom side
Athersley Recreation were beaten 4-1 at
Bottesford Town, the Poachers goals coming from Hashlee Cranidge, Jack Cross, Connor Southern and Thomas Pearson whilst Muhamet Gashi netted for the Rec.
And,
Goole AFC were 1-0 victors at
Winterton Rangers in the other game played on Friday, Samuel Cable's penalty towards the end of the opening period ultimately settling the clash.
The chase for the Division One title continues to hot up with the top three
Hallam,
North Ferriby and
Brigg Town all winning to keep a two-point gap between the leading trio.
Hallam remain at the summit after a 5-1 home victory over promotion hopefuls
Harrogate Railway Athletic who stay fourth, Kieran Watson's opener for the hosts cancelled out by Fatlum Ibrahimi before the Countrymen took control with goals from Jack Brownell, Iren Wilson, Christopher Salt and Christopher Wood.
Ferriby beat
Swallownest 4-0 at the Dransfield Stadium, Daniel East's penalty added to by goals from Danny Buttle, Adam Bolder and Joshua Dennett, whilst Brigg recovered from conceding in the opening minute to win 3-1 at
Nostell Miners Welfare.
Scott Phillips brought the Zebras level after Joe Wood had put Nostell in front, Wayne Graves quickly gave Brigg the lead that was doubled early in the second period by Thomas Johnston.
Selby Town and
Rossington Main continue to complete the top six after they both drew, Selby denied by an injury-time equaliser from Frederick Tracey in a 2-2 scoreline with visitors
Parkgate whilst Tyle Bell's penalty secured a point for
Rossington Main who shared four goals with hosts
Shirebrook Town.
Retford FC stay in seventh despite a 5-0 defeat at
Armthorpe Welfare, Adam Baskerville with a hat-trick for the hosts, with
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic now just behind them on goal difference in eighth.
Lewis O'Connor and Michael Jepps scored Worsbrough's goals in a 2-1 win at
Glasshoughton Welfare whose goal came towards the end from Jamie Simpson.
Basement side
Teversal's woes continued with a 7-0 home loss to
Hall Road Rangers, Sam Robinson and Reece Moody with a double each for the visitors, and Teversal are now sixteen points from safety after
Clipstone's 1-0 home victory over
FC Humber United.
Nathan Swindell's 24th minute strike proved the winner for the Cobras as they picked up a vital win against a side in the bottom three in the battle to avoid relegation.
And, there was a 1-1 draw at the FastFrame as
Ollerton Town came from behind to take a point against visitors
Dronfield Town, Samuel Bebbington's 52nd minute opener quickly cancelled out by Gavin King.
Meanwhile, in midweek,
Maltby Main claimed a place in the final of this season's Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup with a 3-2 home win over NCEL rivals
Parkgate.
They trailed to the Steelmen at the interval, Jack Bancroft with the goal, before Jordan Turner and Alex Hardwick put the hosts ahead by the hour mark.
Haydn Ward restored parity once again on 64 but Hardwick's second eight minutes from time sees them through to face Worksop Town for a chance to lift the trophy.
Worksop beat
Rossington Main who took the lead in the first half through Gary Mundy but the Pitching In Northern Premier League side netted twice in the first part of the second period for a 2-1 victory.
