Michael Burke scored all five of Staveley Miners Welfare's goals as the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division leaders won at promotion rivals Bridlington Town to go six points clear at the top of the table. The Trojans broke the deadlock in the third minute as Burke struck home his first from the penalty spot before he helped them coast into a 4-0 lead by the interval with goals in the twelfth, 37th and 43rd minute.
Joe McFadyen pulled one back for the Seasiders just after the hour mark but Burke then got his fifth of the night, his sixteenth league goal of the season, before Billy Logan added a second for the hosts in stoppage.
Bridlington remain in fifth spot, just outside the promotion zone on goal difference and eight points behind Staveley.
Elsewhere, it was another frustrating midweek with three league games postponed due to waterlogged pitches as
Thackley's home clash with
Handsworth and
Liversedge's trip to
Eccleshill United in the Premier Division and
Campion's match with visitors
North Ferriby in Division One fell victim to the weather.
And, there was disappointment as two of our sides bowed out of their respective county cups with 5-2 home defeats.
Richard Medcalf and Dan O'Connor netted for
Hall Road Rangers as they were beaten by Hull City U23s in the Quarter-Finals of the East Riding Senior Cup.
And, Devonte Newman-Morton was one of the scorers for
Goole AFC who went down 5-2 to former NCEL side Guiseley at the same stage of the West Riding County Cup.
