Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2019/20 #12

19th September, 2019

Wins for Hemsworth Miners Welfare, Maltby Main and Knaresborough Town propelled the three sides up the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division table whilst Retford FC missed out on going top of Division One in midweek.

Two goals from Declan Parker, the first from the penalty spot, helped Hemsworth to a 5-2 defeat of visitors Bottesford Town with Seon Ripley and Jason Davies also netting as they raced into a 4-1 first-half lead after Mason Ellender had cancelled out the home side's opener.

Sidney Santos added a fifth early in the second period before Robbie Leaning got a stoppage time second for the Poachers who drop into the bottom three whilst Hemsworth climb into eighth.

A single-goal victory for Maltby saw them move up into twelfth, William Eades' strike on eleven minutes enough to see off Goole AFC at Muglet Lane.

And, Knaresborough go up to fifteenth after a 4-2 victory at Liversedge, a Joe Walton own goal putting them ahead before Colin Heath doubled their advantage, Liam Marsden halved it once again in first-half injury time and Oliver Fearon made it 2-2 in the 51st minute.

Gregg Anderson and Daniel Thirkell struck in the last twenty minutes to give all three points to Knaresborough whilst Sedge missed out on a point that would have moved them back to the summit.

In Division One, Retford were 2-0 up at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, courtesy of an opening minute penalty from Shay Evans-Booth and Adam Scott's second on the half-hour.

But, the hosts rallied as they came back to take a point from the game, half-time substitute Zak Walker getting both of their goals, the equaliser coming in stoppage time to move Worsbrough up to sixteenth whilst Retford stay in third.

Meanwhile, in the only county cup game that was played, Staveley Miners Welfare were knocked out of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup, beaten 1-0 at Northern Premier League side Stocksbridge Park Steels in the First Round.
