Staveley Committee to be Formed
20th April, 2014
Staveley Miners Welfare chairman Terry Damms has announced that a committee is to be formed at the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division club to continue its development.
In a statement he said: "Some seven seasons on since I took over the club and inputting a large slice of my time and financial support, we have developed such a great club in depth whilst also enhancing facilities on Inkersall Road that, at its level within the Derbyshire/Yorkshire/Nottinghamshire borders, are said by football pundits and authorities to be the best around.
"We have support that has grown and grown and made our great club such a well respected and friendly place to be with our fans' warm and welcoming ways.
"People, families, kids, leagues and county FAs all want to come and to use Inkersall Road and its facilities - a clear indication of our success as a friendly community club. We are truly in a great place.
"Along the way I have had offers to sell the business that I have rejected and I remain committed to Staveley MWFC. However, we must not stand still and now is the time for our second business plan to be set to build on our delivered success of our initial plans.
"As part of this, we should now have a committee with a greater number of people overseeing the running of the club with those joining who can bring differing abilities, support, strengths and possible sponsorship and/or financial assistance with new fresh proposals and ideas.
"HOWEVER - WE MUST REMEMBER THIS IS A COMMUNITY CLUB WITH A LONG TERM PLAN FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE LOCAL PEOPLE AND IT MUST RETAIN ITS IDENTITY AND PLAYING ETHOS.
"No delusions of grandeur here, no rivalry or challenge to local non-league clubs as we maintain our friendly ways and our continuing link with our great local professional club, Chesterfield FC.
"We simply seek to enhance our club further and build on what we have achieved to date. We have plans for our own training facilities on an all-weather pitch adjacent the ground, a new south stand, new toilet and kit room facilities along with a restaurant on the end of the clubhouse.
"In addition to grant applications, we need to expand the club's corporate activities and attract new sponsorship and financial input to achieve our goals.
"Do you wish to join our committee and/or do you know people or businesses that may assist the running of a developing club and business to meet its goals?
"Please feel free to contact me to discuss this opportunity on 07860 726381."
