Six Follow Eagle to Parras
4th July, 2013
Worksop Parramore manager Russ Eagle has today confirmed the capture of six players who have followed him to the club from his previous side, NCEL Premier Division rivals Parkgate.
And, the Parras say he is still in negotiations with a couple of targets who were with him at the Steelmen.
Energetic midfielder Luke Fletcher, a long time target of Parramore, is joined by strike pair Sam Smith and Jamie Smith, midfielder Lee Hill, utility player Ryan Johnson and promising youngster Ash Linacre.
Eagle said: "In Luke Fletcher we have secured a top quality midfielder whom we fought off advances from many clubs higher up the pyramid. He will be a great addition to our midfield area. With regards to Sam Smith, he is a prolific young striker who I have immense belief in and was the NCEL Division One leading scorer two seasons ago whilst Jamie Smith has all the qualities to play at whatever level he wants and is looking as fit as I've ever seen him. The capture of these two will really hot up the completion for places in the striker department.
"Ryan Johnson is an experienced player who I have had at every NCEL club I've been at. He's Mr Dependable and is a born winner. Lee Hill is a great character who will be great for the club, both on and off the pitch, and again has that all important passion and will to win whilst, in Ash Linacre, we have a young man who will gain vital experience especially with the one club set-up we have with Handsworth."
Eagle added: "It's vital we have a squad that can compete at the top of division for sixty games. We will have 46 league games and three, maybe four, cup competitions. The squad I'm assembling will have all the attributes and depth with the aim of maintaining our promotion challenge for eight months."
