Duffield Takes Charge Of Badgers

13th May, 2007

Just a fortnight after they claimed the NCEL Premier Division title, Retford United have announced a change of management.

Following Mark Shaw's departure in midweek, the club have revealed that Peter Duffield has taken charge of the First Team.

He will be assisted by Neil Tooth and Mick Godber as the Cannon Park outfit prepare for life in the UniBond League.

A spokesperson said: "The club would like to place on record their sincere thanks to all the applicants for the role, but decided that it would be a good move to promote from within.

"Peter Duffield was one of the most consistent players last season, missing only a handful of games, and with the support of Tooth and Godber will be relishing the chance to further improve the clubs status within the non-league pyramid.

"Retford United FC would like to wish the trio all the very best for the future and look forward to even more success at Cannon Park."

Meanwhile, the club have also put on record their "sincere thanks" to Shaw whose two seasons in charge at the club had culminated in promotion to the UniBond League.
