In a statement to the NCEL website, Glasshoughton Welfare have announced the resignation of manager Steve Learoyd.

The statement said that Learoyd had found it increasingly difficult and frustrating to manage within the financial constraints that are inevitable in working with a club such as Glasshoughton and the limited resources available.

This is a big blow to the new committee as they look forward to next season after months of uncertainty.

They were quick, however, to praise and thank Learoyd for his leadership during what has been a difficult time for the club.

They said: "Let us not forget that Steve took the team to the fourth round of the FA Vase, the furthest the club has ever progressed, and secured another season of Premier Division football.

"We would like to put our gratitude to Steve on record and wish him well in the future."

The club has acted quickly to give the incoming manager as much time as possible to prepare for the coming season and as such has immediately invited applications for the position of manager.
