Rangers to Host Charity Game

18th June, 2013

Hall Road Rangers will be hosting a charity football match on Saturday 13th July at the John Moore Security Stadium between the Hull City ex-Tigers and a Rangers Select team.

The game is expected to be a very special occasion with proceeds to be split between Debbie Barmby's chosen good cause, the Josey Loft Appeal, and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Debbie, who is sister to Hull City legend Nick Barmby, used to teach 11-year-old Josey Loft who suffers from the very rare Canavan Disease, a progressive and fatal neurological disorder that begins in infancy, which means she cannot walk or talk.

Josey is also registered blind and suffers from epilepsy and, as such, she is totally reliant on her parents for all of her social and care needs.

A brave little girl, she is only the seventh person ever to be diagnosed with Canavan Disease in the whole of medical history in the UK.

In an effort to do their bit, Hall Road Rangers and the ex-Tigers have got together to pool their resources and raise money for both Josey and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Managed by Tim Hotte and Pete Skipper, the ex-Tigers squad will include Ian Ashby, Dean Windass, Steve Wilson and Brian Hughes.

Hall Road Rangers' team will include current junior and first team coaches along with managers, ex-players and members of the veterans team and will be managed from the sidelines by first team manager Andy Foster and veterans manager Tony Hardy.

"I'm very excited," said Foster. "This is us doing the very best that we can as a football club, engaging with the community and bringing out the best values in everyone.

"These games demonstrate the best that football can do as a sport, bringing people together and raising much needed funds for exceptional causes. I'll be proud to take control of the ex-Tigers again and hope that we give the fans a good show."

Kick off will be 2:30pm with entry costing just ?2 for adults and ?1 for children and concessions.

In an effort to raise further funds, Hall Road Rangers are also asking for donations and/or raffle prizes to be donated for auctioning off on the day.

Further details will be announced as and when arrangements are confirmed for what is expected to be a fun-filled day and night for all the family.
