Boro Join Forces with Junior Club
13th June, 2013
Grimsby Borough have met with another local side, Grimsby Soccer, to discuss an amalgamation of the two football clubs in order to provide one team at senior level and one at junior level.
A joint statement from both parties says that it is "to meet the demands of football and put in place a structure which allows access to all areas of football for everyone concerned."
The clubs go on to say: "Ken Vincent, chairman of Grimsby Borough, and Matt Bryant, chairman of Grimsby Soccer, have met to discuss and decide if there was enough for both clubs to go forward and, more importantly, if the proposed amalgamation met the needs of all concerned.
"The initial meetings proved that, without doubt, both clubs had the same outlook on what was required and how those requirements would be met and structured into the new club.
"From that point, both Ken and Matt met their respective clubs and spoke to all teams, coaches, managers and, in particular, parents about the future.
"There was a fantastic response to the proposals and both clubs are now pleased to be able to announce that, as from July 1st, 2013, all teams would run under the Grimsby Borough banner and that there would be teams from under 7 to first team, along with two girls teams and a new disability team, therefore giving a structure for the club to follow.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for all talented footballers to access and both clubs feel that the structure they have put into place gives progression to senior level football and beyond."
