Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2013/14 #66
10th April, 2014
Congratulations to Eccleshill United who won the West Riding County Cup for the first time by beating Skrill North side Harrogate Town in the Final in midweek.
Marcus Edwards' penalty in stoppage time secured them a 1-0 victory at Bradford City's Valley Parade ground in what is surely the biggest achievement in their history.
Brighouse Town moved to the top of the Premier Division and are now title favourites with a 3-0 home win over Liversedge, Leon Henry and Ernest Boafo putting them two-up within the opening six minutes before Boafo's second from the penalty spot secured the victory early in the second period.
But, third-placed Barton Town Old Boys have kept up the pressure as a Gareth Barlow brace and a Scott Phillips strike earned them a 3-1 win at Staveley Miners Welfare to keep within two points of the leaders but having played one game more.
Worksop Parramore kept their slim hopes of the title going as they won 4-3 at home to Nostell Miners Welfare to move up into fourth.
Heanor Town were 2-1 winners at home to Garforth Town whilst Glasshoughton Welfare defeated hosts Retford United by the same scoreline.
Jamie Patterson's 20th minute strike was the only goal of the game as Pickering Town won at Bridlington Town and there was a 0-0 draw between Parkgate and Long Eaton United.
And, in the only Division One game played in midweek, Adam Thorpe's 86th minute equaliser made sure the spoils were shared in a 2-2 draw for Worsbrough Bridge Athletic at Dronfield Town.
