4th April, 2014
Brighouse Town and Shaw Lane Aquaforce both picked up victories in midweek to keep their challenges very much alive for the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division and Division One titles, respectively.
Second-placed Brighouse were 9-0 winners at bottom side Lincoln Moorlands Railway to move to within five points behind leaders Tadcaster Albion with three matches in hand.
Tyrone Gay, Ryan Hall, Tom Matthews and Jason Price had them four goals up by the interval before a second half hat-trick from Ernest Boafo and a further goal each for Hall and Price completed the rout.
Worksop Parramore are still in with a small shout of a late charge for the crown as they won two matches, a 1-0 home victory at home to Parkgate on Tuesday, Sam Smith with the 25th minute settler, followed by a 3-0 win at Heanor Town on Thursday.
Heanor did have something to cheer, though, with a 4-2 home win over Nostell Miners Welfare on Tuesday, top scorer Kieran Debrouwer notching up his eighth hat-trick of the season whilst Nostell remain just two points above the relegation trapdoor.
Hat-tricks from Stuart Hendrie and Tyeisse Nightingale helped Basford United to a 7-0 win at Bridlington Town on Wednesday to keep themselves in the top five.
The Seasiders, meanwhile, also tasted defeat in the League Cup on Monday night as they went down to a 1-0 home loss against Division One side Knaresborough Town, Colin Heath with the first-half goal that moved the visitors into the Semi-Finals.
And, in the remaining two Premier Division matches, there were 2-0 wins at home for Retford United against Liversedge and for Athersley Recreation at Thackley.
Aquaforce stormed to the top of Division One with a 13-0 home victory over Grimsby Borough, equalling the league record for biggest win, Shane Kelsey and Danny Frost with four goals each whilst Luke Danville struck a hat-trick and James Burgess and Lee Swift also got on the scoresheet.
Shirebrook Town are fourth after Aaron Moxam and Steve Wankiewicz scored in their 2-0 win at Hallam whilst Adam Wisdom and Steve Carty found the net as Clipstone beat visitors Dronfield Town by the same scoreline and they are fifth.
