7th March, 2014
A 54th minute goal from Gareth Barlow moved Barton Town Old Boys to within three points of the top of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division table in midweek.
The Swans' single goal victory at home to Retford United means they have closed the gap on leaders Tadcaster Albion to three points with three games in hand.
Third-placed Brighouse Town, meanwhile, lost a little ground as they drew 0-0 at home to Heanor Town.
Worksop Parramore are up into sixth spot after Sam Smith and Jack Poulton struck in their 2-1 victory over visitors Albion Sports and the middle of the table is getting very congested with only two points separating Parras from Long Eaton United, who lost 2-0 at home to Athersley Recreation, in thirteenth.
Jason Bentley's penalty and Daniel Joynes' strike, with both goals coming at the end of each half, secured the win that moved Rec ahead of Long Eaton into twelfth.
Thackley were beaten 1-0 at home to Garforth Town to drop to seventh, with Sam Akeroyd netting a penalty in the 44th minute to settle the tie.
Nostell Miners Welfare have climbed off the bottom of the table with a 4-2 home victory over Bridlington Town, Simon Poole, Ferdinand Annor and Adam Hayton with first half goals putting them in full control before Joel Sutton pulled one back on 65 minutes, Hayton scored again to restore the hosts' three-goal lead and Frank Belt got a second for the Seasiders.
Winterton Rangers continue to look over their shoulders nervously at the drop zone after their 4-0 defeat at Staveley Miners Welfare, Oli Ryan's double helping the hosts to a comfortable victory.
Del Pollock and Mark Newton netted for Glasshoughton Welfare as they won 2-0 at home to Liversedge.
Cleethorpes Town stay five points from the top of Division One as they lost 4-0 at Pontefract Collieries, who climb to fourth thanks to goals from Kyle Hawthorne, Kingsley Wetherald (2) and Chris Kamara.
Clipstone remain in fifth spot after Keiron Watson's 50th minute strike secured them a point in a 2-2 draw at Appleby Frodingham who are now at the foot of the table after Louth Town won 2-1 at Hallam.
Louth picked up their first away win of the season with second half goals from Lee Croft and Frazer Chapman after Liam Morris had given Hallam a 35th minute lead.
Dinnington Town's recent upturn in form continued with a 3-0 home victory over Yorkshire Amateur, a George Newby double helped Grimsby Borough defeat visitors Selby Town, 4-2, and Worsbrough Bridge Athletic were 4-1 winners at home to Rossington Main.
Leighton Matthewson's injury-time penalty snatched a point for Hall Road Rangers in a 1-1 home draw with Teversal.
And, there was disappointment in the Semi-Finals of the Notts Senior Cup for Basford United as a Martin Holt strike and a Ryan Whitehurst penalty pulled them back from 3-1 down to 3-3 against Carlton Town but the Evo-Stik League side scored twice more in extra-time to progress to the Final.
