Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2013/14 #53

23rd February, 2014

Tadcaster Albion's lead at the top of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division is now six points after their 2-2 home draw with Athersley Recreation on Saturday.

With second placed Barton Town Old Boys without a league game, the Brewers stretched their advantage having played four games more thanks to a brace from Carl Stewart, with one from the penalty spot, sandwiched between Joe Thornton's opener for the visitors and Ryan White's 66th minute equaliser.

Brighouse Town are up into third with a 3-0 victory at Winterton Rangers with all the goals - a Danny Nadiole brace and a strike from Tyrone Gay - coming in the last half-hour of the match.

They go above Basford United who were surprisingly beaten 5-0 at home by Maltby Main who climb to fifteenth after scoring all their goals in the opening thirty minutes through Anthony Mackie, Sam Forster, Lee Jordan (2) and Brian Cusworth.

Daniel Facey's hat-trick helped Albion Sports to a 4-1 victory over next-to-bottom Nostell Miners Welfare to move them up into fifth spot.

Pickering Town are into the top seven following their 6-0 home win against Glasshoughton Welfare with Tony Hackworth, Josh Greening, Robert Hawkes, Lewis Taylor, Joe Danby and Sam Calvert all finding the net for the Pikes.

Luke Crosby scored a hat-trick for Heanor Town who won 4-3 at home to Long Eaton United whilst Bridlington Town came from 3-0 down after 37 minutes to win 4-3 at Parkgate.

A first half double from Michael Trench set Staveley Miners Welfare on their way to a 5-3 victory at Liversedge whilst there were no goals between Amthorpe Welfare and Retford United at Church Street.

The top two in Division One picked up a point each, allowing third placed Shaw Lane Aquaforce to narrow the gap on the promotion places.

Leaders Bottesford Town needed an 88th minute equaliser from Kyle Slack to draw 2-2 at Hallam whilst second placed Cleethorpes Town were held 3-3 at home by Hemsworth Miners Welfare, Jack Debnam with the leveller for the hosts just after the hour mark.

Aquaforce are now five points behind Cleethorpes after they won 3-1 at basement side Louth Town, Danny Frost and John Cyrus putting them in front before Mark Whitehouse made sure of the win in stoppage time.

Pontefract Collieries stay fourth following their 3-1 victory at home to Yorkshire Amateur after the visitors had taken the lead on nineteen minutes through Curtis Bernard.

Gareth Grant and Kingsley Wetherald gave the Colls a half-time advantage before the third came from Tom Agus near the end of the game.

Shirebrook Town and Clipstone vaulted into the top six over Eccleshill United who drew 0-0 at Knaresborough Town.

Shirebrook had to wait until the 86th minute to break the deadlock at home to Rossington Main and then netted in quick succession through Thomas Mullen and Grant Ryan to win 2-0.

Robert Paling's penalty early in the second period saw Clipstone win by a single goal at Dinnington Town.

Sam Jerome struck twice for AFC Emley as they won 4-1 at home to Appleby Frodingham and Chris White also found the net on two occasions in Worsbrough Bridge Athletic's 3-2 victory over visitors Selby Town.

There were home wins for Dronfield Town and Hall Road Rangers, beating Teversal, 2-0, and Grimsby Borough, 3-1, respectively.

And, in one friendly match, Barton Town Old Boys drew 1-1 at Harworth Colliery Institute.
