Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2013/14 #51
16th February, 2014
Heavy rain continued to play havoc with the Toolstation NCEL fixture list with only four games beating the bad weather on Saturday.
Tadcaster Albion increased their lead at the top of the Premier Division to four points after their 2-1 victory at mid-table Maltby Main.
Carl Stewart put the Brewers ahead on twenty minutes before Michael Cuckson quickly equalised for the home side but Callum Ward made sure of the points for the visitors with his strike early in the second period.
Long Eaton United tightened their grip on thirteenth spot with a 1-0 win at home to seventeenth-placed Armthorpe Welfare, Adam Burton with the vital goal in the 52nd minute.
In Division One, Cleethorpes Town moved to within three points of leaders Bottesford Town with a comfortable 6-1 home win over Hall Road Rangers.
Lee Stevenson, Johnathan Oglesby and Louis Grant had them three up by the 50th minute before Ben Lewis pulled one back for Rangers.
But, Oglesby struck twice more to claim his hat-trick and Chris Funnell completed the scoring as the game went into injury time for Cleethorpes' eleventh home win of the season.
Rossington Main move above Rangers into thirteenth after they dented Pontefract Collieries' promotion hopes.
Gareth Grant had put the Colls ahead on 22 minutes but Shaun Pendleton struck in first half stoppage time for the hosts to make it 1-1 and Steve Etherington gave them the lead soon after the interval.
Lee Holmes added a third for Main on 88 and, although Michael Staley netted for the visitors after that, it was Main who took all three points in a 3-2 victory.
Meanwhile, in the only match to have taken place in midweek, Bottesford Town bowed out of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy at the Semi-Final stage, losing 2-0 at Brigg Town on Tuesday.
