Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2013/14 #44
16th January, 2014
Thackley moved up into the top four of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division after their 4-2 home victory over Parkgate in a midweek fixtures list that was badly affected by the wet weather.
Damian Hopkins broke the deadlock early on before a Mike Garrod brace and a Paul Whiteley goal put the hosts in full control after just 55 minutes.
Parkgate then netted twice as the game went towards injury time, Oliver Graham's penalty and George Morley's strike making the scoreline look more respectable for the visitors.
Two goals from Sam Smith helped Worksop Parramore to a 2-1 win over visitors Brighouse Town and they climb over their opponents into ninth spot.
Retford United progressed to the Semi-Finals of the Notts Senior Cup after their single-goal victory at Southwell City, Reece Thompson with the strike on 31 minutes whilst Basford United joined them in the final four by beating league rivals Clipstone, 3-2, at the Worksop Van Hire Stadium.
Martin Carruthers got the winner with ten minutes remaining after the home side had come from behind to level the score at 2-2 through a Carl Haslam penalty.
Shirebrook Town bowed out of the Derbyshire Senior Cup as they lost their home Quarter-Final with Glossop North End, 3-1, and Cleethorpes Town were defeated by a single goal by visitors Brigg Town at the same stage of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy.
