12th January, 2014
The top three sides in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division all won on Saturday to keep their title challenges alive on a day where the fixture list was once again affected by bad weather.
Seven games each in the top flight and Division One survived the recent heavy rain and it proved to be another afternoon full of goals.
Barton Town Old Boys stay three points clear at the top of the Premier Division after Gareth Owen and Gareth Barlow both stuck in the second half of their 2-0 home victory over Long Eaton United.
Tadcaster Albion remain on their coat tails as they beat their next-to-bottom visitors Lincoln Moorlands Railway, 6-0, Carl Stewart netting two penalties whilst there were also goals for Danny Critchlow, Vincent Dhesi, Mitchell Hamilton and Daniel Barrett.
And, a hat-trick from Tyeisse Nightingale saw hosts Basford United strengthen their grip on third spot as they defeated basement side Nostell Miners Welfare, 3-2.
Albion Sports climb into the top six after two goals from Lee Elam helped them to a 3-0 victory at Pickering Town and they are just ahead of Athersley Recreation who moved up to seventh with a 4-1 win at Parkgate, courtesy of Kieron Scargill's brace and strikes from Joe Thornton and Jack Briscoe.
Tom Fleming and Craig Hogg got on the scoresheet for Bridlington Town as they beat home side Glasshoughton Welfare, 2-0, and Armthorpe Welfare won by the same scoreline at home to Maltby Main, thanks to goals from Kieran Benson and Daniel Taylor.
The leading four teams in Division One also all tasted success with Shaw Lane Aquaforce remaining top by goal difference after Lee Swift's opener and a late Ashley Flynn double secured a 3-0 victory at Appleby Frodingham.
Second-placed Cleethorpes Town were 3-1 winners at Louth Town, Brody Robertson and Marc Cooper with the vital strikes after the two sides went into the last ten minutes level.
Jack Start and Nathan Smith netted for third-placed Bottesford Town as they won 2-0 at Knaresborough Town to keep themselves just two points behind the top two.
And, Pontefract Collieries stay fourth after they beat fellow high-flyers, visitors Shirebrook Town, 3-0, with goals from Liam Radford, Nigel Danby and Brenton Leister whilst Shirebrook saw top scorer Aaron Moxam sent off late on to compound their misery.
Eccleshill United and Clipstone go above Shirebrook into fifth and sixth, respectively, after away victories.
Eccleshill won 2-0 at Grimsby Borough whilst Clipstone made an amazing comeback from 3-0 down to beat Hall Road Rangers, 5-3.
Corey Mortimer, Chris Adams and Ben Silburn had the home side well ahead by the 48th minute but Clipstone levelled with three goals in four minutes through Carl Haslam, Keiron Watson and Jason Edwards before Watson scored their fourth on 77 and Haslam made sure of the victory with his second in injury time.
And, Liam Schofield's 69th minute equaliser for AFC Emley made sure the spoils were shared in a 2-2 draw at home to Yorkshire Amateur.
