8th September, 2013
Twelve Toolstation NCEL sides progressed through to the Second Round Qualifying stage of the FA Carlsberg Vase after winning their matches at the weekend.
Callum Ward netted four times for Glasshoughton Welfare as they won 7-2 at Askern in what was the biggest victory for one of our teams.
A number of players scored two goals each to help their side's progress with Karl Hall converting twice in a 3-2 win at Alnwick Town, as did Gibril Bojang in Liversedge's 3-0 victory at Esh Winning, Steve Bromley as Knaresborough Town progressed 4-3 at home to Westella Hanson, Patrick Mullen for Rossington Main in their 3-2 victory at Penistone Church, Steve Lyon as Pontefract Collieries overcame visitors St Helens Town, 2-0, and Mike Garrod also claimed both Thackley's goals as they beat hosts Whitehaven, 2-1.
Henry Sibenge and Daniel Taylor, from the penalty spot, scored in the last ten minutes to secure Armthorpe Welfare a 3-1 home victory over AFC Liverpool whilst Clipstone were comfortable 4-0 winners over Belper United at the Worksop Van Hire Stadium.
Robert Paling's spot kick and Brandon Shaw's strike put them in control by the interval and their tally was added to in the second period by Ian Hillier and Carl Snowden.
Heanor Town won by the same scoreline at Anstey Nomads.
Sunday saw Shirebrook Town progress 2-1 at Hallam whilst Dean Sidebottom's injury-time equaliser for Worsbrough Bridge Athletic took their game with Ashton Town into extra time which they won courtesy of James Young's 93rd minute strike.
However, there was disappointment this weekend for Appleby Frodingham, Bottesford Town, Hall Road Rangers, Maltby Main, Nostell Miners Welfare, Selby Town, Tadcaster Albion and Yorkshire Amateur who all fell at the first stage.
In the Premier Division, Retford United missed out on a chance to go top of the table as they were involved in one of three 0-0 matches in the division at home to Worksop Parramore.
The games between Parkgate at Bridlington Town and Athersley Recreation's home clash with Staveley Miners Welfare also drew blanks.
Garforth Town made up for the lack of goals in those games as they won 6-2 at home to Lincoln Moorlands Railway to climb into fifth, CJ Lyle with a brace whilst Andy Hawksworth, Josh Greenhalgh, Josh Cartman and Alex Booker also got on the scoresheet.
Long Eaton United are seventh after their 2-1 victory over visitors Pickering Town, Joe Danby had given the away side a 37th minute lead but the hosts were ahead through Mitchell Robinson and Daniel Gordon by the opening stages of the second half.
And, Theo Smith struck for Basford United in their single-goal home win over Brighouse Town.
Hat-tricks from Danny Frost and Ashley Flynn helped to keep Shaw Lane Aquaforce at the summit in Division One as they beat Dinnington Town, 9-0, at home.
They stay two points ahead of Eccleshill United who won 2-0 at Cleethorpes Town, thanks to strikes from Drake Trease and Doug Stevenson in the final moments of the game.
Teversal are up to third after winning a pulsating match, 4-3, against Grimsby Borough at Carnarvon Street, Sean Gregory netting three for the hosts.
And, Dean Foley got the only goal of the game for Hemsworth Miners Welfare as they won at Louth Town to move up into eighth.
